Chores that work for 6 to 9 year olds
- Make their bed
- Pack their own backpack and lunch
- Clear and rinse their dishes
- Put away folded laundry
- Feed and water pets
- Take out the recycling
- Set and clear the table
- Tidy their room before bed
Tips for this age
- Let them help pick the chores. Kids stick with a chart they helped make.
- Aim for 5 to 7 chores: a few daily ones and one or two bigger weekly jobs.
- Print a fresh chart each week, and give them a moment to look back at the finished one.
- If you pay allowance, turn on "Pay for chores" so they can see what each job is worth.
